Over the past year cios at endowments and foundations have continued to change jobs, leaving many high-profile institutions searching for investment chiefs. In the Northeast, two storied Ivy League institutions are currently in the market for cios: Dartmouth College and Cornell University. Dartmouth's cio, David Russ, left to join Credit Suisse, becoming chief investment strategist for Credit Suisse's new Investment Strategies and Solutions Group. Meanwhile, in Upstate New York, James Walsh decided to exit Cornell to return to his native Britain, where he's starting a hedge fund, Cayuga Capital Partners. Some Southern schools are also in the market now for cios. The University of Virginia Investment Management Company is looking to replace Chris Brightman. He resigned this fall citing personal reasons, and has since landed at Research Affiliates. The West Virginia University Foundation is also searching for a replacement for Dale Hunt.
